With her granddaughter by her side, Sunny recalls meeting Creoles, not only a feral orphan from Korean War days, but a mute boy genetically spliced with wolf DNA by a rogue scientist, now deceased. She effectively tames the unsocialized lad through dog obedience training, and he soon becomes more than a loyal companion, protecting her from the rude advances of her late father’s business partner’s né’er-do-well, spoiled, self-centered son, Vitae, who fully expects Sunny to marry him someday.
Summoned by an unexpected phone call, an elderly woman visits a cottage she used to live in as a child. She begins to recall her memories of a boy she knew 60 years ago.
The young Sun and her family move to a small rural village in Korea. There, they encounter a strange ‘wolf boy hiding under a bush and take him in out of pity.
Bothered by his wild eyes and feral behavior, Sun teaches the boy to wait patiently before a meal, put on clothes, and read and write the alphabet so that he can one day live like other human beings. Slowly, the boy begins to develop feelings for Sun, the first person to ever show him affection.
Then one day an unexpected threat exposes the boy’s deadly bestial instincts, and in an instant, he becomes the subject of the villagers’ fears. Desperate to save the life of the boy who risked his own to be by her side, Sun leaves him with a promise: ‘Wait for me.

Watched this movie for both Park BO Young (loved her in Speedy Scandal) and of course, the ethereal Song Suing. The story line was great albeit a little too simple, with its fair share of hilarious antics and sad moments that had me crying like a baby.
As much as I love him, I have never really considered him as an amazing actor (because the roles he were given so far were not so challenging, I guess). This goes to show how great of an actor he is, being able to carry a story along just through actions.
I am really fighting for words with my brain to explain in what a mess I am right now, this movie just blew the air out of me, and I am really fighting to bring a string of cohesive thought back into my head (that is full of guitars, alphabet letters, yellow fields and blue forests, books and sweaters, shoe-laces and pencils, and finally Suing's eyes, oh, those eyes...) Movie: A Werewolf Boy Country: South Korea Release Date: Oct 31, 2012 Duration: 2 hr.
Kim Sunny, an elderly woman in her sixties living in the US, receives a phone call about the sale of her old family home back in South Korea. Sunny recalls how 47 years ago, when she was a 17-year-old girl in 1965, she moved from Seoul along with her widowed mother and sister Sonja to a remote valley to undergo a period of convalescence after suffering problems with her lungs.
The Kim's lived in genteel poverty at the mercy of their arrogant landlord, Vitae, son of the business partner of Sunny's late father. Even though he behaves like a wild beast, Sunny's kindhearted mother adopts him and names him Chul-soo, assuming he's one of more than 60,000 children orphaned in the Korean War.
She teaches him how to wait patiently before a meal, how to wear clothes, speak, write, and other human behavior so that he could one day live like a normal man. The two eventually become close; as Sunny opens her heart to Chul-soo, he in turn falls in love with her, the only person to ever show him affection.
Feeling threatened, Chul-soo lets lose his bestial instincts and in their fear, the town villagers turn on him. In present day, Sunny walks into the shed to find Chul-soo sitting there, still as young as he was 47 years ago.
Not only were these numbers remarkably high for November, considered a slow season for movie going in Korea, but it was also a rare feat for its melodrama genre. The film also has the distinction of setting a new box office record for unsung day,” the date on which high school seniors take their College Scholastic Ability Test.
On November 15, its 4.12 million admissions surpassed Architecture 101 to become the most successful Korean melodrama of all time. The film also made its premiere in the Philippines on September 18, 2013, as part of the Korean Movie Festival 2013.
