It is very busy at high times such as after Thanksgiving through New Years and during the Mother's Day season. Was this review helpful? This part-time job was wonderful to work at as my children grew.
I was able to work part-time and be home with them in the evening. Was this review helpful? Fantastic job in the warehouse pulling fulfillment for retail stores.
There has been a lot of cutbacks the past 4 years including closing our facility in Wilmot, WI. We learned how to operate independently in each area with little to no supervision unless problems came up.
Was this review helpful? They provide many opportunities to grow and learn if you want them but do not force advancement on employees. Everyone is encouraged to be actively involved with improving the work environment.
Management listens to employees and have open door policy. Benefits are great and multiple schedules are offered to be accommodating to its employees.
Was this review helpful? A typical day consists of replenishing inventory to the retail stores and/or catalog/online orders. Once you've been trained on your job, it is pretty easy to get through each day and feel like you've accomplished your goals.
Even the customers are in a good mood when you pick up your calls. The call volume is good and steady during the Christmas season, so time goes fast.
It helps a lot for my great nieces and nephews in addition to my grandchild. Many disabled computers and/or phones make it difficult to find a seat.
American girl was a job that taught me everything I know about fast-paced environments in the work place. They do a lot of Christmas sales where u can buy discounted doll accessories.
Was this review helpful? A typical day as a Direct Service Representative included taking customer orders, verifying customer's addresses, issuing returns and replacements and tracking customer orders. The hardest part of the job is trying to be patient with frustrated customers.
The most enjoyable part knows that your customer is satisfied with the results you provided for them. Add in another unfortunate set of moves that were tied to the failing Toys “R” Us (TRUE), and those problems have snowballed quickly.
The launch of the lower-priced, 15" Wellie Wishers line never took off in the way that everyone hoped, and those dolls and their accessories were shipped heavily to TRUE. Pair that with fact that about a year and a half ago (October 2016), Americanism opened store-within-a-store pop-up concepts in 97 Toys “R” Us locations, and that's an issue.
In a statement this afternoon, it was revealed that 135 jobs will be lost due to the closure of the AmericanGirlwarehouse and call center. For regular readers of THE ROCK FATHER™ Magazine for those who follow me on social, you may recall that The Mattel Toy Store in Wilmot has been a favorite of ours since we first started taking our girls there back in 2012 (which I wrote about here).
Since 2014, I've also made the that location a regular stop as part of my annual Rock Father™ Santa Holiday Toy Donation Program. I'd hit that store on Black Friday each year to take advantage of 50% off savings on top of their factory-direct deals.
On a related bit of news, Mattel announced today that their Board of Directors has named Non Graz (formerly of Maker Studios), a Mattel director since June 2017, as Chief Executive Officer effective April 26, 2018. Creatively, James has directed/edited music videos, lyric videos, and album trailers for bands such as FEAR FACTORY, has appeared as an actor in feature films and commercials, written comic books, and performed in bands.

The company also makes modern dolls with a focus on “strong character,” publishes Americanism magazine and Americanism books (some 155 million copies sold), and sells room decor, clothing, and accessories. Flagship Americanism Place stores are located in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City.
Other US locations include Atlanta, Dallas, Miami, Nashville, Seattle, and Washington, DC. Boasting some 87 million visitors to date, Americanism stores have become destinations for mostly females of all ages.
With limited retail reach and relatively pricey dolls, Americanism Brands has been struggling in recent years (sales fell some 25% between 2013 and 2017). In addition, the company has been shuttering some operations (including a Wisconsin call center and warehouse in 2018) and cutting jobs.

MacKenzie-Childs is a manufacturer of ceramics and retailer of hand painted imported furniture and home decor based in Aurora, New York founded in 1983 by Victoria and Richard MacKenzie-Childs.
The company entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2000, and in 2001 Pleasant Rowland, founder of Americanism, purchased MacKenzie-Childs. In 2005, the company laid off several workers, including founders, Victoria and Richard MacKenzie-Childs.
After Rowland restructured her management team in 2006 MacKenzie-Childs became profitable. In 2008 Rowland sold MacKenzie-Childs to Lee Feldman and Howard Cohen, part owners of Twin Lakes Capital.
MacKenzie-Childs sued founders Victoria and Richard MacKenzie-Childs citing trademark violation, as their last name and trademarks referencing it had been sold off in bankruptcy proceedings. In 2014, Castaneda Partners, a private equity firm, invested in Aurora Brands, the owner of MacKenzie-Childs.
In 2018 MacKenzie-Childs acquired Patience Brewster Inc. Brewster, an Upstate New York book illustrator and ornament designer, joined the company's creative team, supporting the design and development of products for the Patience Brewster by MacKenzie-Childs collection. MacKenzie-Childs is well-known for its annual Barn Sale, which in 2017, drew more than 26,000 shoppers to the company's 65-acre property in Aurora, making the event one of the premier draws for tourists in Cayuga County, New York.
Held over four days, the sale draws shoppers from around the globe who come for discounts that range from 40 percent to 80 percent. ^ “Functional fantasies grab imagination Wichita shop promotes MacKenzie-Childs designers featured in Newman Marcus holiday catalog”.
