Nearly all online poker rooms offer play money games. Heck, you can even play free Zyngapoker on Facebook these days! And the reason why is that it is a great way to let people get started playing online and learn the rules of poker.
Anyways, in this article I am going to provide you with my top strategies to get you crushing the online play money poker games or Zynga on Facebook, right now. The first thing that you need to understand about Zyngapoker games is that when there is no money on the line people will play absolutely crazy.
Even at the very lowest limit real money games online, where the buying is often as low as $2, people play much more conservative. So when you first get started at the play money tables online you should get used to everybody being involved in every hand.
That is why I recently wrote this free little 50 pages no BS guide to teach you exactly how to start crushing real money games right now. Enter your details below, and I will send my free poker cheat sheet to your email right now.
The whole point of the game of poker is to win huge pots. So you should raise the pot whatever amount you think will thin the field to this amount of people. I would recommend studying from the poker masters like Daniel Sergeant to learn even more advanced strategies to beat Zyngapoker games.
In fact Daniel Sergeant just opened up the enrollment in his new advanced poker training course. Now I should mention, in some particularly crazy Zyngapoker games this might mean just going all in pref lop.
When you have a strong hand at the fake money tables make sure that you raise the pot enough so that you thin the field to just a couple of people. With some of the hands that I listed above such as AA, OK or HQ you do not need to hit the board because you already have a pair.
However, with a hand like AK or A you do need to pair one of your cards on the flop in order to improve. So you need to gauge the strength of your hand on the flop, turn and river and then bet accordingly.
If you have a hand like AK or A and you missed the board completely, then you should just check and fold if anybody bets a reasonable amount. You also want to play your mid pair type hands fairly cautiously as well if they did not connect with the board to hit a set.
If the board is bad (3 over cards for instance) and they bet, then often you should just fold. It is very important to stay disciplined after the flop in fake money poker or Zyngapoker as well. If you have a huge hand such as AA, OK or HQ, you hit the board with your AK/A or you hit a set with your 66 type hand (e.g. flop is K62), then you want to bet big and bet often.
The great thing about play money poker is that your opponents will typically call with anything. Always make sure that you bet big (pot size bets) so that you can win a big pot. You will learn the exact strategies that I used to create some of the highest winnings in online poker history in low stakes cash games.
Play money poker is really quite easy to win at once you understand how to beat it, just like Zyngapoker on Facebook. You also need to make sure that you bet big and often with them when you hit the community cards hard.
Once you start crushing the play money tables, you would be better served to move on to the lowest limit real money tables and start winning for real! Lastly, if you want to learn how to start consistently making $1000 per month in low stakes poker games, make sure you grab a copy of my free poker cheat sheet.
Poker is my favorite hobby, only matched by my love for video games. Spin and Win is a new way to play tournaments in ZyngaPoker.
You want to be very cautious at the start of Spin and Win games. Often, you will double up and have a great start to the mid and end game.
Often, players will play any two cards and check back a lot postflop. Learn and use this information to decide how to play the mid-game.
Calls every hand pref lop Raise a lot pref lop Goes all-in over and over pref lop Makes weak bets with weak hands Makes strong bets with weak hands Goes all-in with nothing. Deciding when to go all-in is pretty complicated in sit and go games.
Some people get overconfident in spin and goes and forget about the survival format. So consider betting on the flop with weaker pairs or with straight and flush draws.
If people call, you can give up if somebody raises or hand remains weak. You do not want to semi-bluff too often, or observant players may catch on and start to adjust their game.
But a well-timed semi-bluff works great when you spot a good chance to do it. Against the right opponent, a semi-bluff may turn into you winning their chip stack.
To me, the end game is the point when one player has less than ten big blinds on the table. At this point, these players, if playing optimally, will understand they need to go all-in or fold.
In reality, most of the time, passive players will limp down to their last blind. In Texas Hold ‘em, there is a small and big blind.
The big blind is the minimum call you need to play a hand. You could make a Royal Flush on the flop, but you still will be small stacked if that is how you started the hand.
It would have been better to take a risk earlier and potentially win more chips. Finishing in second place gets you nothing when playing Spin and Win games.
This takes a lot of time playing poker to get an idea of. By the time you get down to less than ten big blinds either go all-in pref lop or fold.
At this point, I will go all-in with any pair, ace, king, and some queen hands. Don’t overthink how strong the hand is at this point.
If the hand looks good, click all-in because, at this point, you need to win at all costs. You might be able to see one or two more big blinds, but don’t wait too long.
If you have a tiny stack, it is always a huge uphill battle. It is the small stacked player that needs to make things happen.
Now at the same time, if you are too cautious, you might end up becoming the small stacked player yourself. It took me a long time to get better at poker, and I still am learning new concepts and strategies.
(2020 edit: I haven’t played this game in years and came back on a whim to see what’s new, and I have some new thoughts on the strategy portion at the bottom of this section) This is Zynga, and it’s an entirely different world from real money, and it needs to be played as such.
This is not to say that there is nothing from real money strategy that works, it’s just that things need to be tweaked a bit and that’s what I’m going to explain to you here. I challenge anyone to disprove it doesn’t work when followed to a tee over a 2-week period or so.
I know it can be extremely hard for people to adopt a strategy and just toss away their bad habits overnight, so I would think it’d be a very rare person that could probably read this and automatically forget the way they had been playing up till this point. So once all the bad habits are flushed away, and you can incorporate the advice here, give yourself a week or two of some decent hours of play time and let us know how you’re doing.
In a real money game, you wouldn’t be raising or even calling 6-7 off suit or A-10 when you’re first to act in a hand for example, yet people do this in Zyngapoker all the time. Realize as well that you can in no way use ZyngaPoker as a training ground before taking the leap into real money.
Yes it’s similar to real money in that it uses chips, and there're cards, and the hands are the same, but betting patterns and skill at real money cash tables are completely different, and it is a whole ‘other world. It would make sense because a smart player would realize that most people just download these poker apps to have fun and gamble, and you’re likely to be playing with 70-year-old grandmas who don’t really have a clue what they’re doing.
When you see a picture of a player at the table who looks like a 60-year-old woman holding her cat, you can be certain that person most likely is not there to contemplate the inner workings of the game. Some people love the thrill of the gamble over mulling strategy and winning on their own merits.
Your powers of observation should be telling you that many hands will get shoved all in by someone, and these people will show down with anything. What’s funny is that people will call that all in shove with equally bad hands.
It is usually fruitless to use logic and think that the player behind you should fold to a bluff raise because there’s no way logically they would have called the raise on the flop in their positions and based on their action pre-flop, etc. Top two pairs or better on the flop for Zyngapoker (As long as the board isn’t paired, creating the danger of 3 of a kind or a Full House) seems to be good enough since people typically call with much worse.
Should have bet more on the flop to scare the villain out of the pot and saved yourself the aggravation! I play currently at the $200k buying tables, and I can tell you even raising 7k pref lop, you will still have people showing down garbage hands on the river.
Again, read till the end where I will discuss something else that could be playing into your wins on Zynga. As you get closer to being on the button (you have the dealer chip), you can consider raising weaker pocket hands if the people ahead of you have all checked.
Remember there’s not a lot of emotional attachment to this money, so you need to test the waters of your table and see what size bet most people are willing to call pre-flop and whereabouts they start to fold. Whether you want to bet enough to keep certain people in or out of the pot depends on your hand, your position, and hopefully what you’ve picked up about the player from watching him play.
You get to see what the other players are doing with their bets which can reveal a lot about their hand strength, then you get to choose what to do. It’s surely possible someone is slow playing a pocket bomb hand, though most do not, and people usually play their hands face up so to speak pre-flop; raising with good, folding with bad, checking with speculative.
Although to go off on a bit of a strategy tangent here, I think from experience that if I was in early position with pocket aces, it would be better to check knowing that someone is most likely going to raise behind you. If you’re in the big or small blind when it’s checked around to you, and you have speculative hands like 6-7 suited, a pocket pair or TT, KT, etc., Then just limp in to see a cheap and see what the flop brings you.
Bluffing doesn’t often work enough on Zynga to make even the occasional bluff profitable. The money will indeed come slower, but over the long term, your win rate will be much more steady, and you will have fewer swings to your bankroll.
Don’t get frustrated when you see some all in donkey at your table with 5 times the amount of chips you’re sitting with. He is on a heater as they say, and I can guarantee that while he may have more chips than you right now, in a week’s time you will have more when it’s all said and done by playing conservative boring poker.
I haven’t played Zynga in years and just came back on a whim to check it out in 2020. In other words, horrible players who I know would get crushed in real money games have very high win %, which leads me to believe that Zynga is indeed rigged and these players are those who spend real money on the game.
While you may like Zyngapoker as a fun pastime, you need to realize that it’s pretty much a joke in comparison to real money cash games. I would rather see someone risk some real money and start playing micro stakes games online or spend time reading strategy books or watching videos to at least learn something worthwhile and possibly be on the road to making real money.
If you’re still intent on becoming a ZyngaPoker king however, try these tips for a while and report back in the comments how it’s working for you.
