View Entire Discussion (1 Comments)Call of Duty Zombies is a first-person shooter survival mode developed by Trey arch, Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games, and Raven Software and published by Activision. I’d recommend doing this early on and upgrading it as you go, since being able to choose your own attachments is a fantastic way to maximize your salvage and loot drops.
No more messing around then, here’s the ideal loadout you should be bringing with you into Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies mode. With how this game’s Prestige and progression works, you’ll receive unlocks no matter what mode you play.
I’ve found this one really useful for getting out of certain jams, and it’s saved me no small number of times when zombies get me cornered. It takes a second or so to activate, but you’ll get the hang of it, and using your Ether Shroud is a LOT better than getting downed.
When you start camping in corners to take out loads of zombies in later rounds, this bad boy will be an absolute godsend. Of course, start rolling for the Ray Gun when money stops being an issue, as having this in your back pocket along with your Gallo SA12 will make you extremely hard for the undead to take down.
Cold War Zombies has reinvented the mode and made one of the bestZombies experiences to date. New features have been introduced such as Field Upgrades (which have replaced Specialists from Black Ops 3 and 4).
Each Perk and FieldUpgrade is distinct; some aren't worth taking a second look at, and others are the most essential things in the game. Frost Blast is a FieldUpgrade that when used will create a small field around you that damages and freezes zombies.
Upgrading it doesn't change much with it, only giving you an extra charge and doubling the range. The Energy Mine does linger, so you can put it in a place to run into with a train of zombies, but you can accomplish the same with much less effort with just a C4.
Dead shot Daiquiri was widely considered to be one of the worst Perks in the previous Zombies installments. This trend continues in Black Ops Cold War, although being able to upgrade it improves it slightly.
After being gone in Black Ops 4, Speed Cola returns in a traditional Perk machine. Like previous installments, Speed Cola is a useful Perk but doesn't directly help you in any major way.
All Speed Cola does is make you reload faster (and boost your recharge for your FieldUpgrade if it's upgraded). When used a ring forms and when standing inside it you do more damage while Zombies entering into it will be slowed down.
Elemental Pop is the first Perk new to Black Ops Cold War, and it immediately stands out as one of the best. Elemental Pop will randomly trigger an alternate ammo type even if it is not attached to your gun.
Having access to more powerful alternate ammo types is never going to be a bad thing, and it affects all weapons. However, with its Black Ops Cold War iteration, it also boosts the speed it takes for your health to start regenerating again.
This means that Quick Revive is such a necessity in Black Ops Cold War, as maintaining full health is so important in Zombies. It also gives more incentive to use it in Solo, as originally it would just act as an extra life.
Ether Shroud is the ultimate tool to save you when you mess up, and that's what makes it so good. After being missing from Black Ops 4, Juggling returns and reclaims its title as best Perk in the game.
With how damaging some zombies can be such as the Megaton, having extra health can make or break a run. Having worked many odd jobs, including article writing, he is now a list writer for TheGamer.com.
I spent more time watching YouTube videos trying to figure out the maps than I did running around the game itself. But in Black Ops Cold War, Trey arch has brought the focus all the way back to zombies and how you kill them.
It keeps most of the basic ideas that Trey arch has added to the mode over the last 12 years, but simplifies them down to their most fun elements. Image: Trey arch/Activision More importantly, killing zombies in Die Machine is a tremendous amount of fun.
The environment is split between an upper level, which is a snowy landscape complete with rocks and debris that make it perfect for dodging zombies, and a lower-level laboratory, full of tight hallways that are easy to get ambushed in. While previous maps made the zombies feel like an afterthought to the Easter eggs, one of my favorite parts of Die Machine was just kiting hundreds of zombies around the map like the Pied Piper, but with a laser gun instead of a flute.
Zombies now has a weapon rarity system that should look pretty familiar to anyone who’s played an MMO or RPG. Image: Trey arch/Activision Black Ops Cold War also lets you bring in weapons from your custom multiplayer loadouts for the first time.
These custom-fitted guns, complete with your favorite attachments, start at a low power level but can be upgraded in each match. In one match I got a semi-automatic rifle, and while I might have passed it by in previous games, its Legendary rarity convinced me to send it through the Pack-a-Punch machine and I ended up using it for dozens of rounds.
It saved me dozens of times and let me cut through early-round zombies way better than I could have with a Common assault rifle. By streamlining the overly complicated mechanics this time around, Trey arch is placing the focus back on the mode’s bread and butter: killing zombies.
