Trying to connect a second controller to your console will cause a prompt to appear explaining that this mode does not support split screen. We haven't been given a reason for the lack of split screen but there's a good chance it could simply be too taxing on current gen consoles.
This will no doubt disappoint co-op buddies who have been enjoying the Modern Warfare Multiplayer on a single screen, as they won’t be able to implement that same set-up for War zone. Setting up two consoles with two TVs is certainly doable, allowing each player a full- screen experience, with all the joy of sitting next to your friend or family member.

The brand-new Call of Duty battle royale mode War zone has finally dropped onto the battlefield. If you try to add a second controller while inside the War zone tab, you will receive a message prompt telling you that this mode does not support split screen.
It wasn’t until just this year that Fortnite introduced split screen multiplayer for their battle royale so Call of Duty could follow suit down the line. Call of Duty Modern Warfare’s competitive multiplayer does support split screen if you want to play that together.
It certainly makes sense down the road to add split screen considering there is currently no solo play in War zone. If you’ve played War zone, you may have noticed that there is an “add controller for split screen option at the top of the screen.
As soon as the user begins to sign in, they will then be prompted with an error screen that War zone does not support split screenplay. Call Of Duty has not announced that split screen will be available for the popular battle royale mode.
When the profile prompt shows up, select another user that will be used to keep track of scoring. Once the user logs in, they will be able to keep track of their inventory and preferences based on their profile name.
Similar to how split screen is not allowed in War zone, there are certain game modes that Call Of Duty has ruled out to playsplitscreen. Game modes like ground war, search and rescue as well as mayhem mosh pit will have the lock symbol next to their names.
This means that both players will be locked out from playing those 2 game modes. Call Of Duty has determined that these game modes either do not work with split screen, or that the users need to have their full screen to play effectively.
We’re still waiting for Call Of Duty War zone to get split screen, however it could be happening soon. Although it will say to add split screen by adding another controller on the War zone home screen, there’s no way to actually playsplitscreen.

Call of Duty War zone is launching today, and a lot of folks are wondering whether it has split screen multiplayer. Although pretty much all multiplayer action nowadays takes place over the internet, a number of folks still like having the option to share the screen with their teammates.
