Quadcopter Wobbles In Angle Mode

Mike is extremely knowledgeable and his step-by-step videos walked me through my first build. I went from never picking up a soldering iron to flying within a couple of days.

Of course, I've searched like crazy to find the solution to the problem but so far haven't found any. The quad is a Turning Talon v2 frame with a ATOP Multiple v2.3 board.

In Multi Wii this is ANGLE mode as seen in the Config program. You first tune Pitch & Roll PID's in Acre mode (all other modes OFF in Multi Wii Config). Once they are fine (see above video) then turn on ANGLE mode and adjust the LEVEL PID's.

In other words use GUI on multiple Config until you get it flying stable on ACRE mode, then flip to Stable level mode and continue to tune the board until it where you want it? Once the PID's in Acre mode are good then by going the ANGLE mode the Accelerometer is also used and the LEVEL PID's are tuned so that the quad holds a stable level.

While the Quad is on the 'string' connect the FC to your PC running the Multi Wii Config program. Turn on the transmitter and connect the battery on the quad.

Now ARM the motors and run up the throttle until it is light on the string. Follow the video to determine which PID value to change.

ARM and run the motors to check the new value. Typically, the Pitch and Roll PID values are the same but can be different which is more of a personnel preference reflected by your flying style (like fast-forward FPV).

Adjust the transmitter's trim tab for level flight in Acre mode. Then in Angle mode adjust the Accelerometer trims with the Stick Command (look up the stick commands for Multi Wii) without touching the transmitter trims. These are the methods I used and my quad now is quite stable in both Acre and Angle mode.

I'm new to this hobby and would love to hear your advice. I have a DJI F330 frame, with A2212 13t 1000kv motors, running with OK 2.1.5. It feels like someone else is moving yaw and roll.

I did account calibration (calibrated it on level surface), trimmed it, balanced my props, battery is properly fixed. I want to hear your suggestions before I spend money on new components.

I already ordered USB ASP cable to update my FCB. You want to re update it to 1.8S1 the 1.9 is for quads with sensor problems.

I did a design not too long ago, I used a paint pen and labeled the ESC 1,2,3,4 along with the motors 1,2,3,4 that I planed to use. Since I build in a two part design, I put it all together based off the paint pen.

Since it was all together I “assumed” that the ESC the with paint on it went to Motor 1 with the marked paint and then plugged it into the FC board as Motor 1. Played with the PI, reset the board, anything I could think of.

I then “traced” each wire from the ESC to the FC board, and found I had Motor 1 hooked into the ESC 2. Even though the CW and CCW were the correct spin on the motors, the ESC were not directing the motor I that the wires were hooked into on the Flight control board.

That little drone I built did flip two inches off the ground before I discovered this. Well after correctly assembling everything and tracing the wires, I made sure the Motor 1, spun CW was traced to ESC 1 and plugged into the FC as Motor 1.

You'll note it behaves better when you get higher in the air, getting out of the prop wash. The 3rd attempt looked pretty good.

Try to fly it from your hand, apply throttle, but don't let the quad go just yet. I used this method when I try to tune the PID settings on my quad.
