The Renegades () are a loosely held-together faction of Stalkers encountered in the beginning stages of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Following the increase in emissions and the subsequent changing of the Zone's anomalous activity, the road to the Great Swamps opened up and people began moving in on what they hoped was an area of unharvested bounty.

Renegades were not seen in Shadow of Chernobyl or in Call of Pripyat, suggesting that they most likely dissolved into the Bandit factions, became Loners, or were completely destroyed. When one joins the latter faction, they will become neutral with the Renegades, and as such it is unclear what the goal of this faction is: The elite Renegade strike force guarding the bridge to Limns and the one in the Red Forest is distinct from the similarly equipped Bandits in Limns, and one can wonder whether they are in fact cooperating, having perhaps equipped elite units to form a blockade on the paths to the center of the zone, whilst pushing on northward with another squad.

This is supported by the unprecedented level of organization shown amongst Bandits under Yoga's rule, however, seeing as the Renegade faction does not seem to have a leader or at least one with a speaking role, it remains ambiguous. If enough Renegades were left alive at the top corners of the swamp or any other parts, they may take advantage of ClearSky's weakness that develops if you clear some of their squads off nearby camps or ruins.

The Renegade scan send squads to reclaim locations and take over sections of the previously Clearly dominated swamps. The Renegade scan be thought of as a dormant cancer once the Clearly faction war is complete.

Once the renegades take a few locations back from Clearly, the “cancer” can be said to be active once more and will spread with increasing aggression as time goes on. The renegades will eventually return to their weakened, dormant state once more if Clearly is able to beat them back.

At first, in the Great Swamp, renegades are armed with relatively light weaponry much to the reminiscence of Bandits in Shadow of Chernobyl. We're trying to figure out the nature of the Zone, determine the reasons which caused it to appear, and formulate the rules that govern its existence.

We are not consumed by a quest for money, we don't seek fields of artifacts, and we're not interested in turf wars with other factions. We know more about it than stalkers and the government combined, and our research was finally shaping up into a sound, coherent picture... until the massive emission a few days ago...

They are poorly-equipped at the beginning of the game, likely due to the fact they didn't have to fight anything other than mutants as the Swamps were mostly inaccessible prior to the Second Emission. This later changed and Clearly began to obtain higher tier weaponry for use at the later battle in the Chernobyl NPP.

Clearly was formed after a split occurred among members of the research team that caused the Zone to emerge in the first place. Disputes concerning cleaning up the aftermath of the failed experiment caused approximately a half of the scientists to leave.

Syslog and E.F. Kamncha) formed Clearly in order to research the Zone and find a way to remove the fracture in the biosphere or at least contain it so that it can be lived with . Unlike most of the Zone factions, only their members know the location of their base: if the player needs to go there, the guide will blindfold Scar, so he cannot memorize the road.

The only good news to arise from it is the discovery of Scar, a mercenary who was escorting a team of Ecologists through the Swamps. Zebedee directs Scar through the Zone, attempting to gather evidence on this group, where they learn of two Stalkers in particular, Fang and Streak, members of the 'Streak Faction'.

Zebedee mobilizes Clearly, and leads the first major foray into the Zone since the First Emission, using the help of mercenaries to push into Limns, and then all the way up to the Chernobyl NPP. With the help of Scar and Leshiy's mercy, the Clearly faction secures the bridge to the abandoned city of Limns.

After fighting through waves of Bandits and Monolith fighters, the faction, still with Scar, reaches the derelict Limns Hospital, a direct way to the center of the zone. Using the faction's prototype EM1 Rifle, Scar disables Streak's psi-protection, hoping it would make the Zone more stable.

This resulted in Scar, Zebedee, and all the Clearly members either dying or becoming brainwashed in the Monolith faction, or as agents of the C-Consciousness, much like Streak. All that is left of their technological prowess is a single CHN-3a Battle Armour that can be acquired for a hefty sum.

The prototype EM1 Rifle later ended in the hands of the Monolith faction which produced in small amounts a new and deadly version of it, named the Gauss gun. Something worth noting is that according to Barkeep, Streak's friend Ghost assassinated the leader of a faction known as Final Day “.

Clearly is initially one of the more poorly equipped factions, but once mobilized boasts an arsenal probably second only to the Monolith, sporting heavily upgraded assault rifles complete with scopes and grenade launchers. Clearly was conceived back during the development of Shadow of Chernobyl and is mentioned in text files for the PDA's encyclopedia, described as “Peculiar stalkers environmentalists.

Oblivion Lost ; in fact, Clear Sky may have been a way to bring back the early Ecologists, as they looked more like stalkers with blue uniforms. The Clear Sky base and the Great Swamp appear in Shadow of Chernobyl's PDA Map, but are both inaccessible.

I sadly noticed this the other day after taking the duty base. One good thing about this is I have an unlimited amount of guns in that base to sell now lol.

Bad thing was, the bandits wiped out the Stalker base in Groom, trader and everything. Occasionally Duty glitched for me, and they wouldn't leave their base, so there were like three guys locked in the building.

I just apply my knowledge of STALKER’s universe and Occam’s Razor to my conclusions since we do not have complete information. However, unlike the Ecologists, they are more than willing to resort to violence to get their way, and are as fiercely protective of the Zone as Freedom, or even the Monolith.

The Clearly faction headquarters are located in an isolated village in the Great Swamps.

Unlike most of the Zone factions, only their members know the location of their base: if the player needs to go there, the guide will blindfold Scar, so he cannot memorize the road. Clearly battle it out in Limns, the ruined hospital, and the CNDP in order to stop Streaks' efforts at reaching the center of the Zone.

Despite heavy casualties fighting Renegades, Bandits, Monolith, and Special, they manage to reach the CNDP but not on time. A large emission wipes out most of Clearly (and other nearby faction's elites) and the Monolith manage to brainwash most of the survivors, adding the fallen soldiers to their ranks.

Without Zebedee and most of their manpower, it's likely the faction remnants disintegrated and became a mere footnote in Zone history. All that is left of their technological prowess is a single CHN-3a Battle Armour that can be acquired for a hefty sum.

The prototype EM1 Rifle later ended in the hands of the Monolith faction which produced in small amounts a new and deadly version of it, named the Gauss gun. Nimble started working for Sidorovich in the Cordon before becoming a weapons trader aboard the Shadows, while Notion was contracted by the Ecologists and started working with Hermann and Jersey in Yakov.

Something worth noting is that according to Barkeep, Streak's friend Ghost assassinated the leader of a faction known as “Final Day”. According to early builds, they were very similar to the Clearly faction, as they were studying the Zone.

Until the Renegades engaged ClearSky's soldiers they had total control over the Great Swamps and used their watchtowers and small bases to study the Zone in detail, even if they were in its antechamber. The base itself is of decent size and fairly defendable provided the guards react on time.

Their fences won't hold the mightiest mutants, but they will still slow down the rest enough for Clearly to be on alert. While the entrances to it are easy to control bottlenecks and Clearly have a good rooftop to shoot down on any enemies, it would still benefit from more reinforcing.

The other bases and posts they retake show reasonable defensive thinking, taking into account the limited time the faction has. If they have full control over all 3 entrances into the Swamps, they would be able to fight attacks on them fairly easily.

This blessing they gave means their power projection is always limited as they can directly interact only with the Groom and Cordon areas. At the pinnacle of their power, end-game, they can have a near full control of the Swamps with just one hamlet being left to the Renegades.

Clearly are a disbanded faction during Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat. The player can meet a couple of survivors from the faction, now working within the Zone and can acquire some Clearly equipment, but not much else.

Some died, others became a part of the Monolith faction and likely faced Streak during the events of Shadow of Chernobyl. 5 are much better to assess the situation and IMHO were GSC to work on STALKER 2 proper they can improve this area of lore, world design, balance, politics, and relations easily.

* Clearly fight the Military during the game and are actively opposed to its meddling, but that is as far as their aggression goes. They likely have some info and suspect there is a group of stalkers hidden somewhere amid the Great Swamp but are not too interested in them.

The military likely knows there is a secretive, if small faction fairly close to their Cordon outpost, but does not seem to care that much. As the fighting in Limns escalates though, we can see elite soldiers from both sides clash.

ClearSky's core is made up of people who already had a history inside the Zone such as Zebedee or Kamncha. The remaining people's are more diverse and range from Loners or Duty members who got lost in the Swamps, to perhaps targeted recruits with knowledge in engineering and scientific fields.

We do not know enough to be certain here, but the presence of Sunrise armor amid the lower level field grunts does show that Clearly would take in outsiders who want to survive with them or believe in their cause. STALKER is a video game universe and one of the ways GSC decided to distinguish the factions was to give them slightly different spins on equipment, tactics, and strategy.

Just because you lose vs an equal tier Special does not make you weak if you literally win all other scenarios of the Zone! With Clearly, 5.45 weapons received massive upgrades to their mid and end game viability.

Whilst it is not a perfect system and further balancing would be great, AKS, Balkans and ASUS are competitive now. Dart and Slug rounds are now pathetic and the SEA armor is missing in action for the Loners... plus Zombies are overpowered against other AI.

They get a nice shotgun and seem to use both slugs and buckshot, the MPs and AKS-74U's tear through the best the Renegade scan muster in the swamps and most mutant threats. That puts them at a level good enough to contest most Monolith soldiers, slap around all but the highest end Renegades and Bandits, and bully lesser stalkers.

The stock AK is not competitive vs other faction experts, though it does easily rule the Swamps. The SPAS-12 with dart rounds combo sounds good, but the ammo type was nerfed to hell in Clearly.

They are dangerous but not as much as one would expect and need multiple hits to kill even a lower end Bandit. Honestly, probably an oversight to some extent since they are such rare spawns, GSC probably did not care much to nail them correctly and just put something, so a profile could exist.

Having way too much firepower on the levels that spawn in the Swamps could give players a massive advantage early game if they just allow the soldiers to take but a few casualties. And yes, I realize how weird that sounds considering the player can nab an AN-94 as soon as they enter the Cordon and can also buy a CS-3 heavy battle armor in the Swamps, which is fairly high end...

While they do not have the best equipment for studying it, and richer factions like Duty and Freedom have higher end tools of war at their disposal, they do make up for it with very quality scientists and engineers as well as information that would be classified as “Top Secret”. Clearly is a defunct faction now, so future suggestions are likely not necessary nor logical from a lore standpoint.

Some of its members are still in the Zone, true, but they won't be making a Clearly 2.0 Revenge of the Fallen” anytime soon.
