Trade SFF Novels Rock music legend John Weston sadly passed away in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday, January 31st, 2017, after a long and courageous battle against colon cancer.
John rose to fame with King Crimson in the early 70s during the iconic Red era and later formed the band UK. In 2006 the original lineup of Asia reformed and toured the world several times to promote four new studio albums.
John valued his over 11 years of sobriety and volunteered time in fellowship with other alcoholics to share his experience, strength and hope with them. John is survived by his recently wed wife Lisa and 18-year-old son Dylan, brother Robert and mother Peggy.
The very last studio song of John Weston’s career was the closing track on the most recent and indeed final Asia album Gravitas and included the profound lyrics, “Think the best of me, till we meet again.” Due for release on April 7th, White snake In Full Flight is a fully independent publication in collaboration with bassist Neil Murray.

Taught by the “Master of the Telecaster,” Albert Collins, and schooled by John May all, Montoya -- who cut three successful CDs for Alligator between 2000 and 2007 -- has a hard-edged sound and style all his own, mixing his forceful, melodic guitar playing and passionate vocals with memorable songs, delivering the blues’ hardest truths. Produced by Tony Drainage (Eric Burden, Curtis Salgado, Taj Mahal, Bonnie Wait), the album features eleven songs, each delivering a hard truth of its own.
Montoya’s unpredictable guitar playing and smoking soul vocals blend effortlessly with a backing band featuring renowned musicians' bassist Bob Club (Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Jerry Lee Lewis), keyboardist Mike Finnegan (Jimi Hendrix, Etta James, Taj Mahal), guitarists Billy Watts (Eric Burden) and Johnny Lee Shell (Bonnie Wait), and Drainage on drums. Slide guitar master Lee Roy Parnell guests on Lost In The Bottle. Montoya earned his status as a master guitarist and soul-powered vocalist through years of paying his dues as a sideman with Albert Collins (first as a drummer) and then as a featured guitarist with John May all’s Blues breakers, before launching his solo career in 1993.
Still an indefatigable road warrior, Montoya continues to pack clubs and theaters around the world, and brings festival audiences to their feet from New York to New Orleans to Chicago to San Francisco. Across the globe, he’s performed in countries including Australia, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Norway, England, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Mexico, Ecuador, Italy, Poland, Russia, Czech Republic and Canada.
Also included are the 1987 studio sessions produced just before their self-titled debut album and the ultra-rare 1985 four song EP Collectors’s Edition No. Packaged in a deluxe reverse board mini-LP style wallet with individual sleeves for each disc, Fistful Of Guns will blow fans away starting February 3rd.
It then takes shape and goes from my music to Scott’s lyrics to Frank and Joey’s ideas and melodies to Jon’s lead guitar. Death metal act Sinister will release their new album Syncretism on February 24th, via Massacre Records.
As the band celebrated the successes of Perfect Strangers, they sold out stadiums all across the world and played a second USA tour in 1985, this time in front of a massive audience at The Alpine Valley Arena on August 17th. Prog's legend Rick Waksman says he’s ‘thrilled’ at making chart history with his new album ‘ Piano Portraits ’.
The Worldwide (r)Evolution was a resounding success on every level with half of the shows sold out, and we can’t wait to get back on stage again to have a gigantic heavy metal party every night with all our Templar friends!” The Unity, the new band founded by drummer Michael Eyre and guitarist Hence Richter (both Gamma Ray), will release their first digital single and lyric video for the song Rise And Fall today.

Might. Kill arrived on the scene. Children Of Bodom's debut album, Something Wild “, was released 20 years ago and thus the mighty Hate Crew were born. Recorded at their home studio in Tampa, FL, Obituary is a 10 track tour de force of bone-pulverizing death metal that is as heavy, uncompromising and infectious as anything they've released in their historic, nearly 30-year career. I tend to write autobiographically and on this album I dealt with topics I've never explored,” explains Russell of the new record.
Rather than look backwards and merely attempt to relive the multi-platinum hard rock entity’s storied origins, Jack Russell set his sights on the future. This group has a sharp, soaring, eclectic, hook laden new album ready, boasting the bluesy hard rock stomp that made Russell and Montana icons in the first place.
It taps into the bluesy bombast and heavy energy of Russell’s celebrated material, but it’s a distinctly modern metallic monster. Jim was a man we all loved who exuded compassion, joy, faith, and gratitude for every person he met and every note he played.
Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian has released a video in support of the band’s upcoming UK and European tour dates. It then takes shape and goes from my music to Scott’s lyrics to Frank and Joey’s ideas and melodies to Jon’s lead guitar.

He spent key years of his career as the beloved bassist and vocalist of the group, recording on the classic albums: Burn, Storm bringer, and Come Taste The Band. The trailblazing hard-rock legends had just weathered the departure of vocalist Ian Gillian and bass guitarist Roger Glover, but guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, keyboardist Jon Lord and drummer Ian Piece continued with the addition of Hughes and David Cover dale.

The same structures and progressions that animate blues and roots music can also choke the air out of it, smothering it in caricature and cliché. In the tradition of The Howling’ Wolf Album and Muddy Waters’ After the Rain, No Time Like Now offers tribute to blues-rock as a full-blooded, living thing, not a museum piece.
From the skittering swamp rock of “Money in the Bank” to the rollicking, gospel-tinged “Love, Love, Love”, through the strutting soul of “I’m A Man” (an original tip of the pick to one of his favorites, “Mannish Boy” by Muddy Waters), the swaggering stomp of “Old School” and simmering scrapyard blues of “Good Times” to the nakedly reflective ballad, “The Day They Carry Me Away,” the album finds Strongman and longtime collaborator Rob Slab delivering the goods in every way. Steve Strongman’s impressive resume includes stints opening for guitar legends such as Johnny Winter, B.B.

The concerts were recorded live at Le Triton in November 2014 and feature the EMEHNTEHTT-RÉ TRILOGIES performed in full for the very first time! Initiated in 1973, its composition beholds its whole fulfillment after more than four decades.
Connecting wide and contrasted scenes, it sets its coherence within its very dynamics, playing with chiaroscuro, between choral splendor, operatic jubilation and hurricane of spirits beyond graves. Chip’s latest compilation of songs in his own inimitable style, personal in origin but universal in appeal, follows last year’s release of Little Brothers, which generated universal acclaim and also saw Taylor reuniting with his former duo partner, singer/fiddler Carrie Rodriguez, for a series of shows dubbed “the 10th Anniversary Red Dog Tracks Reunion Tour,” in honor of their album of the same name.
Taylor also released a “mini album,” I’ll Carry for You, last year, inspired by Canadian golfing sisters Brooke and Brittany Henderson, who caddy for each other, and whose title track was a song about the power of love. Tampa, Florida-based death metal legends Morbid Angel announced last year that they have signed with UDR Music for all territories exclusively outside Japan. Formed in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1984, Trey Azagthoth played with several lineups before joining up with David Vincent and Pete Sandoval from grind core specialists Terrorizer, as well as Richard Brunette.
It was this lineup that recorded and released the first Morbid Angel album in 1989, Altars Of Madness, which is widely recognized as a masterpiece and one of the major cornerstones of death metal music. Their intricate yet incredibly heavy music, featuring Azagthoth's supremely technical yet ferociously feral guitar work, has seen Morbid Angel become one of the top-selling death metal bands in the world.
Striking a consistent chord of dark, dissonant death-metal empathy with their loyal fan base, and with the world in its current state, this is the perfect time for Morbid Angel to ascend once more. Legendary Deep Purple/Rainbow guitarist Ritchie Blackmore was interview by Newsweek recently about a number of topics.
Marshall Bernstein's Audio Fidelity will be releasing Grand Funk's widely popular classic rock album Shining' On on limited edition hybrid SACD. The cover of the Carole King and Gerry Coffin penned “The Loco-Motion” turned this dance classic on its ear with a stomping beat and a screeching guitar lead from Mark Warner that shot the chugging' pop remake straight to #1 on the Billboard singles chart and helped drive gigantic album sales.

Each Audio Fidelity Shining' On SACD slip case will include a pair of 3-D glasses so the brilliant art work can be viewed as originally intended.
